Since July 2016 some of my work has been presented in several local galleries in South Devon and I also joined the summer exhibition in TAAG Gallery in Teignmouth.      It was very nice experience generally and I met some great people there who made me feel really welcome. I am planning another shared exhibition […]

Over the past few months my focus has been on painting moody industrial landscapes and atmospheric deserted seascapes.        These paintings might be a bit reminiscent of my older ‘Way through the Darkness’ pictures. I am using a pallet knife technique and more pastose  paint but am trying to add a bit more colour to […]

In March (2.3 – 24.3.2016) I had a solo exhibition in the Dolmen Gallery in the centre of Prague. I chose to present a variety of pictures from both the Perfect World and the Metamorphosis collections in two separate rooms of the gallery.

At the beginning of November I was invited to participate in the shared exhibition ‘Animals in Art’ (following which there was an auction) in the Dolmen Gallery in Prague. The pictures I chose for my section of the exhibition were from my Perfect World and Metamorphosis collections.

In spring 2015 (March to April) I was given the opportunity to present pictures from my Nordic Collection in Prostor 228 Gallery in Liberec (a historic town in north Bohemia, Czech Republic). The exhibited work featured some of my more recent paintings of fishes and sea creatures, also some of the dark landscapes from my […]

At the beginning of 2015 I was asked if I would like to install some paintings from my Perfect World collection in the busy Balabenka Office Complex in Prague 9. At this current time, the entrance area of the building has been completed and my pictures are installed in the reception and lobby area of […]

Since February 2014 I have been focusing mainly on Nordic and Polar themes in my new picture collection. The main difference compared to my more recent work (in which I used predominantly metallic colours and usually chose a mythological theme as the subject matter for my pictures) is that these new canvases are often almost […]

I happily accepted the “Happy Dog” company’s invitation to paint portraits of some of their clients’ dogs and on Saturday 21st September, 2013 I participated in “Pestival 2013″(‘PES’ is the Czech word for dog!) where I had the opportunity to show my work to  visitors of the exhibition. Just a few pictures to show you […]

I have found a new source of inspiration from my travels to England, Dalmatia and Tunisia during the past few months. I have been especially inspired by Mediterranean and oriental colour schemes which I have tried to capture in  my most recent paintings in the Metamorphosis collection which – I am proud to say –  […]

Since the middle of 2012 I’ve been focusing mainly on my Metamorphosis picture collection. I have been experimenting a little with a new painting technique and style using metallic colours and increased structure. The metallic colours allow me to capture a mythological and historical atmosphere in my favourite picture themes. The structure and luminosity of […]

Since 2010 Jiri Ptacek has been working on a new collection of paintings entitled Metamorphosis. This collection is different in both sensation and style from the previous Perfect World collection and seems to have been created almost as a reaction to it. One of the impulses which started Ptacek’s work on the collection was his […]

As well as a showcase for my artwork, I will use it to publicise current exhibitions, and make available reviews and commentaries of my work, past and […]

“A poster doesn’t have a place on the wall of a luxury home” Art elevates owner and emphasises his taste, often also possibly wealth and good judgement. He, who in today’s materialistic world surrounds himself with art, receives a status of an especially cultivated, educated and humanistic individual. Collectors in the Czech Republic put their […]

Since 2003 Jiří Ptáček has been developing a reflection of a trouble-free modern style in collections of paintings using coloured acrylic paints. These paintings react mainly to the current role of publicity and media manipulation, but also suggest a general tendency to escape to a virtual world free of real problems. It is a thematically […]

Translation of a speech made by Czech art historian Jiri Machalicky, PhDr. at Jiri Ptacek’s graduation exhibition opening at the National Art Gallery in Prague in June 2001 Jiri Ptacek chose a theme of rapidly-changing scenery for his paintings, which was inspired by his trips to Berlin. Memories of different moments were metamorphosed into a […]
